2011 Emmy Predictions

Outstanding Drama Series
Boardwalk Empire
Dexter
Friday Night Lights
Game of Thrones
The Good Wife
Mad Men

Gosh, Game of Thrones was certainly my favorite new show of last year. And I would certainly love for it to win. But I think it’s a toss up between Mad Men and Friday Night Lights, but maybe a little Boardwalk Empire thrown in there as a spoiler. Yet I continue to dream of a night where Westeros will win the trophy.

2011 Emmys Drunken Live-Blog

That's right kids, I'm at it again. Join me here tomorrow at 6pm CST to read my increasingly snarky opinions on the 2011 Emmys. Look for predictions to appear sometime tonight. And if you're in Chicago and my real-life friend, come get drunk with me in person. I'm 63% funnier in person.

2011 Academy Awards: The Live-Blog

2011 Academy Awards Predictions

Best Picture:
127 Hours
Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
The Kids Are All Right
The King's Speech
The Social Network
Toy Story 3
True Grit
Winter's Bone

This is a tight one between Black Swan, The Social Network and The King’s Speech. They each have a lot of momentum as they come into this final race of the award’s season. Personally, my giant boner for Winter’s Bone has me pulling for it. That movie really deserves it.

2011 Independent Spirits Awards Predictions

BEST FEATURE
127 Hours
Black Swan
Greenberg
The Kids Are All Right
Winter’s Bone

Despite having never seen Greenberg, I’m still a little surprised to see it here. Did the category need a little padding? I heard aight things about it, but they were just aight, nothing great or spectacular enough to warrant a nomination for the Best Feature. I still think I personally preferred Black Swan for its overall effect, but if there was ever a time and a place for Winter’s Bone to win this is it. It’s too quiet and still of a movie to win the big awards so I would love to see it get recognized here.

2011 Grammys: The Live-Blog

10:27 Well, I'm never live-blogging the Grammys again. At least not sober anyway.
10:25 Win Butler looks so happy!
10:25 More Arcade Fire is always a good thing. Oh, and I really like this song too!
10:24 Lots of small technical glitches tonight.
10:23 This is pretty freaking awesome actually. Almost makes suffering through this worth it!
10:23 So much terrible music nominated. And Arcade Fire wins! Yes!
10:22 What we've all been waiting for? The end!
10:21 Hey Dodge, it's just snow no matter what you're driving. Fuck off for that ad.
10:19 Longest commercial break ever

2011 Golden Globes: The 2011 Live-Blog

10:00-And it's done. Thank God. I'm trashed. Big upset in the finish. I'll talk about it later.
9:58-And they're not over time. Why did they play him off?
9:57-First playing off the stage we've had in hours.
9:56-I feel like I should have known after this movie won for Best Director.
9:55-Did fire just come out of Michael Douglas' mouth? And it's an upset! To me! But I don't mind because this movie was great!
9:48-The lawyer and I disagreeing about hats on men. I think it is always a classic and appropriate look. And I forget what his argument is, but it's not as good as mine.
9:47-Playing the math, I called it again. I think I'm not liking how accurate I am.
9:46-Bangs are not a good look for her.

2011 Golden Globes Predictions

Best Motion Picture, Drama

Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
The Kings Speech
The Social Network

It has to be Black Swan. I get all of the other nominations but this movie was so perfect, from the script to the score to the direction to the acting. Everything came together to create a truly remarkable movie-going experience: a fever dream of tension and sexuality and insecurity and obsession. I would actually say it’s one of my favorites of the last several years.

Announcement: Live-Blogging the 68th Annual Golden Globes

That's right kiddies, I am once again going to drunkenly live-blog the Golden Globes. Look for rampant snark and egregious typos. (I just severely cut the side off of my index finger so I can hardly type before we even factor in all the booze!) And I know you come to the blog for the rampant snark.

I'll be starting when the red carpet bullshit does, which looks to be about 6pm CST. Come and laugh at all of my opinions!

And look for my predictions to be up either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Then we can also laugh at how little I know about movies even though I am committed to writing about them.
